Beervelde Park was designed in the late 19th century to highlight Ghent's flourishing horticulture. Covering 25 hectares, the estate has been owned by the de Kerchove de Denterghem family since its creation and is widely known for its prestigious Plant Days.

PRESENTATION

At the heart of the park once stood a historic castle, destroyed during World War II and later replaced by an elegant villa. However, the original cellars were preserved and decorated in the 1960s by the famous painter Roger Raveel. Originally conceived as a recreational space for the count’s teenage sons, this remarkable work is now considered one of the painter's major works.

The park was landscaped in 1873 to become the showcase for Ghent's burgeoning ornamental horticulture. The patrons, the Counts de Kerchove de Denterghem, were passionate plant enthusiasts and played a leading role in this sector. 

Twice a year, in mid-May and mid-October, the park hosts the internationally renowned Plant Days, attracting 240 exhibitors and over 40,000 visitors annually.
